Dada?
For a few days it just seemed coincidental, but then it started to occur at more appropriate moments. I think we have officially heard our first real "Dada" out of Macy. The first time I heard her say it, just a week or two ago, it was while she was playing with her toys and I was barely in the room, so other than considering it cute, I didn't think much about it.
But then it happened last Monday when we dropped Macy off for her first day of day care. Oh yeah...I guess I haven't told you about that. I have a few things to share regarding her recent day care experiences, but I just don't have the energy tonight, so I'll save them for another time. Back to my current story. So Macy was sitting down at the "breakfast" table in class, just starting to be fed by one of the teachers, when I walked over to give her a kiss goodbye, before heading off to work. As I turned away from the table, I heard it loud and clear and so did the teacher. I whipped my head back and the teacher looked at me and said, "she just called for you as you walked away." Confirmation from a non-biased observer. Macy really did call me Dada and it wasn't just her making random sounds. SWEET!
As I drove to work, I thought about that little moment and realized that it made me much happier and much sadder all at the same time. Such is the life of a parent.
