CH-CH-CH-CHANGES.....

The constant change with babies is amazing. Its never more apparent then when you spend some time apart from them. I recently spent time in Jamaica for work (Don't get too jealous, it sounds a lot better than it actually was) and while I was gone, Macy discovered her tongue. Since that moment, everything she can get her hands on goes into her mouth and things that she can't get into her mouth she just licks.

This evening the plan was to have someone pick up Annie and Macy at the airport because I had to work. After being at the office for an hour or so this morning, it became clear that there really was only one option...time to play a little hooky. So I ducked out a little early and raced to the airport to reunite the family. From the moment we pulled into the driveway until Annie put the baby down for the evening, I couldn't take my eyes off of either lady. (This is a family blog...get your mind out of the gutter) The first change was easy to see. As soon as you looked at Macy, you could tell she was longer than when she left. The second change I didn't see right away. While playing with the baby and trying to entertain her, something new happened. Instead of just smiling at me when I happened to do something she found humorous, Macy actually laughed...with sound. Tonight my daughter giggled at me for the first time. What a funny, touching little sound.

I was able to repeat my funny face, causing her to giggle two more times. I then tried to be extra funny, to illicit the response over and over, but Macy wasn't having any of it. So, now I can't wait until morning, when I get a fresh chance to make the giggles return.

Tonight I'm a very happy man....my ladies have returned home.
