Halfway There

Laney was lying on her back tonight, playing with one of her toys and she pulled off a half turn. She was able to get from her back onto her side. And so it begins....

NY Recap, Part 1

Prior to our leaving for NY, Laney wasn't exactly where we hoped she be. I'm not sure if it was the NY air or the excitement of her first airplane ride, but it was like a switch was flipped and she changed practically overnight; just in time to meet GG. Our often sleepy baby turned into a smiling machine. I can't get over how often she will look at you and just break into a big 'ol smile.

While in NY, Macy also demonstrated a new found talent: being controlling and in charge. In our house, whenever Macy wants to go outside, we ask her to get her shoes and socks, which she promptly does. We then lace her up and we are on our way. While on Long Island, we had some beautiful weather. (Which was followed by nasty weather and then beautiful weather again.) What better way to enjoy a nice summer day on the Island than to walk through the grass barefoot? The grass up there is so much nicer than here in Florida, but I digress. Well, if Macy is around, there will be no such thing. She actually chased both grandpa and uncle Adam back into the house because they didn't have on any footwear. I'm talking about a 20 month old who looks down at your feet, points and begins to chant, "shoes..shoes...shoes....etc.." until you return to the house and properly prepare your feet for the outside world.

It was quite humorous to watch and luckily I was smart enough to know when to go shoeless and when to have them strapped on, thereby avoiding the scolding.

In a NY State of Mind

We just returned (well...it was JUST when I started this post, but now it is over a week later so that isn't accurate any longer) from Laney's inaugural visit to the Empire State, where she got to meet her great-grandma (GG) , Uncle Adam, Aunt Kim, Grand Aunt's Anne, Marla and her new Grand Uncle Jeremy. We didn't really make the rounds this trip, as it is a little harder to shuffle everyone around.

During our visit, we took a ton of pictures and Grandma took two tons, so I have to go through them all and pick out some good ones to share.

Before flying back to Florida, we shot over to Connecticut to visit Aunt Tori, Uncle Americo and Cousin Connery. As an added bonus, Grandpa Kupper. There are a ton of stories to tell about our adventures, but the trick is to find the time to write them down before they fade away. (UPDATE...they are already fading. I'm hoping that when I finally find some free time to look at the pictures that some of them will come back to me.

Keep an eye out for the next post, which will have the pictures. Based upon my current productivity levels, I should have that post ready in early December.
