NICU Reunion
Weeks back I promised I would explain the picture of the bow on Laney's head and today I'm finally following through on that promise.
The NICU runs a reunion every year and they invite back the children who have "graduated" from the NICU and so we attended the event. It was at the hospital and a lot of the staff was able to come down and say hi.They had some food, a photographer and face painting. We sat the girls down and let Macy pick what she wanted. I was amazed at how well both of them sat there and let the artist paint on them. Macy went with a butterfly and I came up with the bow for Laney. I'm not saying we have a hair issue, but she is 6 months old and virtually bald.
We didn't get to see as many of the nurses as we had hoped, but we saw the two main doctors and a number of familiar faces. After our visit to the hospital we rushed over to Ryan W.'s first birthday party where Macy go to go swimming, which washed off her new addition. Laney wasn't really up for the pool, so her bow was around well into the evening.
During our NICU stay, I tried to write down the names of the nurses who took care of us. They do 12 hour shifts, so you get 2 nurses pure day. I thought we had a full list, but I think I might have missed a few, since I think we spent 7 days there and I only have 5 days worth of nurses....I guess I wasn't as diligent in writing down there names as I thought I was. Must have been the stress of just being in the NICU.
I know they won't ever see it, but here's a special thank you to the women who helped make sure our "Mommy's Little Miracle" got home as soon as possible.
