It's Back...The Baby-Food Guide

One of the most popular "features" of After The Tenth has returned...the Baby-Food Guide. In the weeks leading up to Macy's birth, Annie kept a running total of Macy's weight and which food item she most closely resembled. You'll find the Baby-Food Guide in the lower right hand corner of the site.

We are currently in Week 18 and as you can tell from the guide, she's roughly he length of a bell pepper.

Estrogen Is In the Air

So the secret is out and almost everyone knows we are expecting another bundle of joy this June. Some of you also know that our new little one is going to be Macy's little sister. So in June the score officially become 3 females to 1 lonely male, and that's not even counting the female dog. I'm already mentally planning the renovation for an additional bathroom, to give me at least a fighting chance of getting into one on my own terms. (wish me luck)

So now that we know her gender, the baby name challenge has officially begun. If you would like to enter the challenge, we are looking for cute, somewhat unique girl names that start with an "H" or an "F". We are hoping to incorporate one of those letters either as her first or middle name. Before you start peppering us with suggestions, here are some guidelines:

1) First, the name should be a shorter name; possibly 1 or two syllables. While some people might think Henrietta is a pretty name, when you put it next to Sznitken, it is quite the mouthful.

2) Second, Sznitken is a tough last name, we've ruled out many a names that we originally liked, but once we paired the names together, it just didn't sound right. So say your name as a complete name, and if you still love it, then send it along.

3) We currently need both a first and a middle name, so don't feel limited to the two suggested letters; don't be afraid to branch out. Of course the person who comes up with a full name that uses both an H and an F gets a gold star!

I don't want to commit to using any of the submitted names, but I should tell you that Zoe's name was originally suggested by one of Annie's students who happened to use the name for their dog; and Macy's name was originally suggested by one of Annie's co-workers.

To inspire you, we are including the results of her first two photo shoots.

Blizzards Aren't All Bad

A man much wiser than I pointed out that the Christmas Weekend Blizzard might have been more than a headache, but a blessing in disguise. I have to admit that I hadn't really thought about it that way, but now that he mentioned it, I think he was onto something. The storm just happened to hit the day after Christmas, at time when many families were already together. The timing of the storm meant that people were then "forced" to spend additional time with their family. Thanks Mikey for enlightening me, but this disguised blessing only seems to work if you like your family.

Did I mention that my parents were "stuck" with us for almost 3 extra days because of the storm? Good thing we like them. Seeing as how I'm sort of good with computers and the internet, I tried my best to play travel agent and to stay on top of the ever-changing airline status but even so, I couldn't work my magic. Their flight was supposed to be on Sunday night, which meant that they would miss out on the Vuoto Family Christmas party, which was a bummer. On Sunday morning it was clear that they wouldn't be able to get out of town as planned, so we first tried to get them on an early morning flight, but that also got cancelled. After their 2nd flight of the day was cancelled, it was time to make a phone call. I called over to the Vuoto household to see if they could accomidate 4 last minute guests; so in the end we all got to be part of the festivities, which was great because not only are my cousins great cooks who make the most delicious meals, but we really like their family members.
