Globetrotting

I know that the gaps between posts seems to be getting larger and larger, but until I can figure out how to stay home with Macy and then get paid for writing about her, I have to keep my job, which often times keeps me from writing updates. (Bummer) Recently there was a gap that was even larger than normal. It was difficult getting an opportunity to document the day's events since we were on the next leg of the Macy World Tour. Prior to the arrival of the Kupper side of the family, we had a number of "firsts" which included Macy getting to use her Passport.

That's right, I said passport; as in a United States Passport which gives you the ability to travel abroad. When Macy turned the ripe-old age of 4 1/2 months, we schelpped her off to the nearest passport office and submitted her application. The passport picture lady worked really hard to get a great photo of the baby for her documentation and she succeeded. I really wanted to scan it and include in this post, but there are probably at least 13 federal laws against scanning and posting your passport, plus the added identity theft issues, so I passed. If you swing by the house, ask to see it and I'll proudly bust it out.

So where did Macy go? Probably someplace "typical" and close, right? Wrong!
How about Trinidad and Tobago, a mere 7 miles northeast of Venezuela!!!

I have some friends from work who were getting married in Trinidad, and we got invited, so how could we say no???? (The groom is a Trini and the bride is from Sri Lanka) [Next year they are getting married in the bride's hometown; not sure if we will get invited or if we could ask Macy to withstand the 13 flying  hours it takes to get there, but maybe I should start saving up vacation days just in case.] As you'll be able to see below, Macy was a big hit at the wedding, including with the father of the bride.

Here are some photos from the wedding and from our days relaxing on the beautiful island of Tobago.

Kupper-Cane Warning

If you live in South Florida, you are well aware of hurricane warnings. For the northerners in our reading audience, a hurricane warning is issued when hurricane force winds have a high probability of striking in 36 hours or less.  So why am I talking about hurricanes? While it is officially hurricane season, the Atlantic Ocean is clear, so no problems there.

However, the Sznitken family is now officially under a Kupper-Cane warning. That's because there is a high likelihood of a large number of fast moving current and former Kuppers descending upon our house within the next 24 hours. Macy is about to be visited by almost the entire maternal side of her family. Forecasters are predicting that tomorrow we will receive one grandfather, one uncle, two aunts and three of her four cousins. On top of that we are also expecting outer bands to contain two more extended family members. (Sarah's parents are also joining the fun)

We are currently hunkering down and preparing the house for the onslaught. Wish us luck and we'll be in touch again once the "storm" passes.

My Artistic Wife

I tend to take most of the photos in our family. This is partially because I'd much rather be behind the camera than in front of it, just like my mom; but also because Annie's hands shake more than the California coast during a 5.6 on the Richter scale. Somehow she could take a photo on a tripod and have it come out blurry. It is truly something special to see.

As with many things in life, with practice comes skill and Annie has developed the ability to hold her hands still. Or at least still enough that the "anti-shake" feature in our new camera takes over and she's really taken some great shots of the baby. One afternoon she decided to play Anne Geddess and have some fun with Macy.

Here are the results. Pretty cool if I do say so myself.
