Alone Again!

Alone again. Annie and Macy are in Austin, Texas.

If I didn't know better, I would think that Annie tries to get away from me whenever possible. Good thing I know better.

Thursday afternoon, Annie headed to the airport to take Macy on her third airplane ride. We are doing our best to take advantage of the "if your under 2, you fly for free" rule. Thanks to the advances in technology, I have been able to see glimpses of Macy's introduction to her Texas-based relatives. (Uncle Mike, Aunt Sara, Cousins Caitlin, Carter & Maria)

Once Annie returns, I'll have a bunch of new pictures to share with you. I've already seen some really cute photos of cousins Caitlin and Maria holding and feeding Macy. It seems that everyone is enjoying having Macy around, and who can blame them? It even seems that she went to her first movie while in Texas. (All the cousins went to see "How to Tame Your Dragon")

While I'm really glad to hear how much fun everyone is having together in Texas, I do have some concerns that I need to share with you. Annie and I get along famously, except for a handful of days a year. Most of you know that Annie is from NH and I'm from NY. It seems that our "worst" days tend to revolve around baseball season. To mitigate Yankees-Red Sucks (oops) Red Sox issues, we have a truce in place. We have agreed that we will not dress up our daughter in any clothing that represents either team. While I trust my wife to uphold the treaty, I do not necessarily trust my brother-in-law.  Today is Opening Day and my beloved Yanks are in Boston to start the season with a win over their rivals, and I'm concerned that he will pressure Annie to violate the agreement.

Mike--I know you are reading this so now I'm going to speak directly to you: If I see one image, video clip, Facebook status or any other reference to Macy wearing anything Red Sox related, I will make sure that each of your children receive Derek Jeter t-shirts, hats and jerseys every birthday and Christmas until they are 21. (You've been warned!!!!)

P.S. Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Grandma, who celebrated her special day yesterday.

P.S.S. Happy Easter to my Christian friends and family (even the ones that root for the Red Sox)

I've Become "One of Those Parents"

I've officially become "One of Those Parents". Not sure what I mean, let me explain? You've met those parent who are convinced that their child is the brightest, most amazing and adorable kid on the planet? Of course you have, they are everywhere. Well, I wasn't going to be one of those parents, I was going to just let Macy be herself.

This was all true, until I read a small article about a photo contest. American Baby magazine was running a cover shoot contest. Submit up to 6 pictures and the winner would be flown to New York for a photo shoot. One of the images taken during that photo shoot would be used as the cover in an upcoming edition. I read the article and the rules, knowing that every wacky parent out there would be entering their children into the contest. How silly...what was the point of submitting Macy's photos? There would be thousands and thousands of babies entered. There was no point in wasting any more time on this, so I closed my browser and moved onto other things.

Well, 3 days ago I officially entered Macy into this contest. After some considerable thought, I realized that there was one major difference between me and those wacky folks who "believe" their child is the most adorable. Mine actually IS the most adorable, so if I don't share her cuteness with the world, I'm being totally selfish.

So here, are the 6 photos I selected, along with some help from my mom. The rules require that the baby be 3 months old and all photos be taken within 1 month of the submission date. This limited our options slightly, but I'm still pleased with our selections.
