Turkey Time

Thanksgiving in New York, one of my favorite times of the year. This year's celebration was both missing something and had a little something extra special. What was missing you ask? Adam and Kim were on their honeymoon in St. Lucia. Can you believe they didn't invite us to spend the holiday with them? RUDE.

The extra special part of the holiday was that this year's table included cousins Terri and Nicky, who stayed up in New York after the wedding. As an added bonus, when we flew back to Florida, they were on our flight. When Macy fought sleep and I had to walk the aisles over and over to keep her entertained, I could pause my pacing and chat with them.

Holiday dinner was yummy as always and our table was rounded out by Aunt Anne, Aunt Marla and Great-Grandma Sally, or GG as she is now being referenced. (GG had a neighbor show her how to go online and read the blog, so please everyone say hello to GG, who has officially joined our reading audience) During dinner Macy reminded everyone that while she had stopped doing her rendition of the Brooklyn Cheer (giving raspberries) it was still in her arsenal. This made everyone at the table laugh, as they all found it amusing; especially Grandpa who led everyone in a rousing edition of "Watch Macy Mimic Me." Grandpa would give a loud raspberry, which would be mimicked by Macy, causing laughter at the table, which Macy thoroughly enjoyed. It was certainly humorous to watch, but just yesterday I received a warning at Nova that Macy had resumed her old habits. It seems that Macy was at the snack table on one side of the room, when one of her classmates on the other side let out a raspberry, which she could hear. This caused Macy to follow suit, sending snack particles at her table-mates. Thank you Grandpa for getting us in trouble!

During the week, Macy made two visits to Jefferson's Ferry to visit her Great-Grandma. As you can imagine, she was quite the hit. I've got some pictures below, which will give you a sampling of the folks stopping by to say hello to our little one. You may also notice that Macy found some new "walkers" that she enjoyed using.

Wedding Bliss

The main reason for our recent trip to NY was to be part of Kim and Adam's wedding. On behalf of Macy, I would like to welcome Kim to the Sznitken Family and officially bestow upon her a new title: Macy's Aunt Kim, making her the newest member of a very prestigious group of women. It still seems weird to think about my "little" brother being a married man, but I'll get used to it.

Right before we left Florida, Macy cut her 3rd and 4th teeth. She now has a matching set of uppers and lowers in the front of her mouth. You'll be able to see the teeth in upcoming photos.

Since Macy likes to go to sleep early in the evening, we made arrangements for baby sitters. Friday night, there was a rehearsal dinner, so we asked Jodi and her two boys if they wouldn't mind letting the "white shirt baby" spend the evening with them. The last time they babysat for us, Michael dubbed Macy the "white shirt baby" since she was wearing a white onesie. They were both thrilled.

The wedding was the next day and we asked a HUGE favor of Aunt Tori, who trekked across the Long Island Sound on a ferry boat. She arrived in Long Island with her entire family to watch Macy the entire day and evening, which allowed Annie and I to cut loose a little bit. Its amazing how your entire life becomes a schedule when you have  a little baby and everything occurs around that routine. It was quite nice letting the evening pass without having to worry if we needed to warm up a bottle in the next twenty minutes, or if Macy's nap would last 1 hour or 2.

I know that cousin Connery really enjoyed spending the afternoon with Macy and I think there was even a heated indoor pool involved with the fun. The day after the wedding we got to thank them by stuffing our faces at a local BBQ joint...yummy.

Vampire Baby

Maybe growing teeth wasn't the best idea for Macy. It has turned her into a little vampire baby who really enjoys biting other humans. This afternoon, Annie picked her up, only to be informed that while in the "tunnel" with another child, Macy leaned over and bit the girl's leg.

Tonight, I witnessed her go into a "feeding frenzy", where she would lunge at Annie, try to bite her and then giggle. To try and reprimand her, Annie would sternly say "No" and then stare at the baby. Unbelievably, the more Annie stared, the more it made Macy belly laugh. I was sitting on the couch watching my child flop around trying over and over to bite my wife and laughing after each attempt.

I can't help but wonder if all those Sunday nights spent watching True Blood during Annie's pregnancy wasn't  some sort of mistake....
