Cutest Nursery Ever? (Maybe Not, But Definitely The Cutest Nursery I Ever Helped Design)

The nursery is coming along quite nicely..which is good considering the due date is just around the corner. Here are some photos of when it was my home office, what it looked like while we tried to decide what to do with it, and what it looks like today.

As you can see, we are well on our way to being overwhelmed with PINK. If by some chance, the technician made a mistake and she's not a girl, I will be making an emergency run to Home Depot to buy Blue & Green paint.

We still need to organize and hang the accessories, but the majority of the work is now complete and ready for the baby's arrival.

P.S. - Happy Birthday to my beautiful bride and the mother-to-be!!!!

A Day of Thanks

I don't think anyone would be shocked if I told them that I had quite a bit to be thankful for this year. With such an amazing wife, how could I not be thankful? We are now within 3 weeks of the scheduled arrival of our little holiday gift. Unfortunately, we don't have a tracking number for this package, but even if she doesn't make it before the end of Chanukah (Dec. 19th) or even by Christmas Day, this is going to be the best holiday season ever for the Florida branch of the Sznitken family!

Annie seems to remember us paying extra for a rush delivery, ensuring her arrival before the 25th. It would be a little disappointing if she didn't make it on time, especially since we have just short of a dozen holiday outfits to dress her up in!

I'm also pretty excited that my folks have flown down to spend the holiday with us; and equally excited that they left Adam in NY! (You guys could have brought Kim with you though.) For the rest of the family in Connecticut, Texas, New Hampshire, New York, Minnesota and other long distances away, we are thinking of you and looking forward to the opportunity to see you again and to introduce you to the newest member of the clan.

So in the spirit of the day, I want to thank all of our family and friends for their everlasting support, friendship and assistance. I'm sure that I sometimes fail to express how important you all are, but please know that I recognize how charmed a life I get to lead.

Ok, time to get off of the computer and to get back to getting the house ready for our guests. That's right...my VERY pregnant wife is hosting Thanksgiving 2009 at our home. (If Baby Sznitken has half the energy of her mother, its going to be quite the year)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones.

Queen For a Day Or Longer

Cousins Terri & Nick recently delivered something very cool to our house...a Queen Palm. Now a Queen palm by itself is a nice gift, but there is a story and a meaning behind this one, making it even better.

Back around March, they saved one leaf that grew from their tree. They cultivated and nurtured this one leaf and from this, they grew a plant. For those of you who are like me and aren't that strong at math, that was when our little Princess was conceived. (Going completely off topic, how come talking about sex is often a taboo subject but everyone seems comfortable talking about sex when it leads to a grandchild?) When they delivered it to our house, they told us that since this plant started at the same time as our upcoming addition, they wanted us to have it to commemorate our daughter's birth. How cool!

After lots of thought and discussions, last weekend we finally settled on a location. The Princess' Queen now has a permanent home out in front of our house, for everyone to see.
