There's a Special Bond Between a Girl and Her Telephone

As I previously mentioned, Macy has developed the skill of mobility. She's still working on mastering this new talent, but it's coming along quite nicely. That first day after she realized that should could actually move herself, she could only go about 3-4 crawls without falling down. She's now developed the ability to stay moving for longer and longer distances.

At this point, her ability to crawl seems in direct correlation to the object that she desires to be near. I wouldn't post a video in which she's not that motivated to crawl, so in the video below you will see that we put one of her favorite objects on the other side of the rug.  If you can't tell, we put a toy cellphone on the floor.

From her reaction, it is clear that somewhere deep in the female DNA there is a strand that fuses a special bond between a girl and her telephone.

Her First Crush - Oh Boy!!!

I'm in trouble.

I always knew that someday I was going to have to play the "scary father" role. Macy would eventually show an interest in some young boy and I would have to  demonstrate to him how intimidating and unstable I am.  I just didn't realize that I would have to do it so soon; nor did I realize that my first "victim" would be a 5 year old.

We were recently over Tom's house. I had heard a rumor that the last time Macy saw Truman, his five year old, she laughed at everything he did. This time I got to see it with my own two eyes and luckily we caught some of it on video.

This is going to be a long and bumpy ride.....I can feel the agita setting in.

Even More Changes

I previously told you about Macy giggling at me. That turned out to be just the first "new" thing she did this week. One of her other new things, is actually still a work in progress, but still worth mentioning. She's working very hard at being able to turn herself over. She can go from her back to just about on her belly. The only problem is her left arm, which she can't seem to get out of her way. So now she's got her bottom half on her belly, but her arm is in the way and she's stuck about 85 percent of the way over and unable to finish the turn, which leaves her VERY frustrated. I figure she's 2-3 days away from realizing that if she keeps her arm down, she'll just plop on over.

Her second new feat is the ability to sit up in her Bumbo seat. If you don't know what a Bumbo seat is, let me enlighten you. It is a soft foam material seat that enables babies to sit upright all by themselves. (One they can support their own head) Oh yeah, that reminds me...Macy can basically support her own head now. Yet another change that really developed this week.

Not only that, but she has started taking a liking to objects, so Annie ran out and bought her a bunch of toys. Let the onslaught begin. There is one ball that she REALLY likes and you'll see what I mean in a moment.

This was a big week for Macy...Lots of "Firsts"!!!!

Anyway, when we first put Macy in her Bumbo seat, she could only sit for 10-15 seconds before she started to tire and her head began to flop around. Now that she's got stronger neck muscles she is able to just hang out the seat for long periods of time.

Take a look at this video Annie shot of her hanging out in her chair and being shown her favorite new toy...
