Glad To Have Ya

Macy was recently visited by her Aunt Kim and Uncle Adam. It was a quick stop on the Kim-Adam summer tour of the east coast, but we were glad to have them. The timing of their visit was perfect, as they arrived the week before Annie went back to work and Macy began spending time at day-care.

Besides getting to spend some time with them, it was fun to see Adam interact with his niece and to learn more details about the upcoming nuptials. The wedding is in November and Annie and I are excited for it. To quote Young MC, Adam is "hoping you [me] can make it there if you can, cause in the cermony you'll be the best man." Somewhere between work life, home life, being a dad, being a husband, being a blogger and trying to relax I have to write a best man speech. I could tell you that I'm almost done with the speech, just putting some finishing touches on it, but you wouldn't believe me would you? (I still have 2 months...and to write a speech worthy of the big day, I'm probably going to need every day I've got.)

The visit was too quick and I had to work while they were here, so photo opportunities were a little limited. In the very near future we are all heading to New York for a well timed bachelor party/wedding shower weekend. There probably won't be too many from the bachelor party portion of the weekend, but I bet there will be a number of really cute shots from the shower.

One of the nights they were in town, we were able to get some of the local family members together for a fun dinner where everyone had a ton of laughs. You can see one of the table shots below. You will notice Annie is missing from the picture and that's because she was the photographer. I guess we should have gotten the waiter to come back over, but he was no where to be seen at this point. You will also see Macy's first bicycle, a gift from her Great-Aunt Bobbi, who made it with her own two hands. If you need some balloon toys or balloon house decorations, give her a call, she's very talented.

Yet Another First

As you probably know from recent posts, Annie and Macy are in Minnesota visiting family. This evening I was at a birthday party for the son of one of our neighbors. During the party I ducked out to come home and feed the dog and have a quick video call with Annie.

At the start of the call, Annie said she had something to show me. Last night Macy started to get herself up on all fours and rock a bit. Annie wanted to show me that crawling was probably going to happen soon. What neither of us realized was that crawling was going to begin at that very moment.

The camera was on the ground in front of Macy and before my "eyes" (or the camera's eye as the case may be) she inched forward, getting larger and larger on the screen.

Macy crawled tonight!!!!

I returned to the party a beaming dad and made sure that everyone heard the good news. Now that I'm home, I've already installed a number of outlet plugs and the cabinet locks are going on this week. Things are about to get really interesting.

Is Television Bad For You?

My name's Scott and my daughter is addicted to TV.

There, I've finally said it and I already feel better. I cannot explain it. Ok, that's not entirely true, since I truly enjoy lying on the floor watching TV.

However, Annie and I are both well aware that all recommendations are not to let your child watch TV before they are two, but somehow Macy has discovered the boob-tube, and she LOVES IT. It doesn't matter if we turn her around and face her in the opposite direction. She will twist and contort her body so she can get a good look at the the TV.

We think this might be the true reason she taught herself to roll over so soon. She also seemed to easily roll from her back to her tummy, which just happens to put her in perfect TV watching position. We've been  told that babies normally go from their tummys to their backs first, but with parents like us, is it any surprise that she's "different?"

Here are two images, one which clearly shows Macy enjoying her favorite hobby. Since we take so many pictures of our adorable little angel, I can't remember for certain what she was looking at in the second image, but does anyone want to venture a guess?
