NY Recap, Part 1
Prior to our leaving for NY, Laney wasn't exactly where we hoped she be. I'm not sure if it was the NY air or the excitement of her first airplane ride, but it was like a switch was flipped and she changed practically overnight; just in time to meet GG. Our often sleepy baby turned into a smiling machine. I can't get over how often she will look at you and just break into a big 'ol smile.
While in NY, Macy also demonstrated a new found talent: being controlling and in charge. In our house, whenever Macy wants to go outside, we ask her to get her shoes and socks, which she promptly does. We then lace her up and we are on our way. While on Long Island, we had some beautiful weather. (Which was followed by nasty weather and then beautiful weather again.) What better way to enjoy a nice summer day on the Island than to walk through the grass barefoot? The grass up there is so much nicer than here in Florida, but I digress. Well, if Macy is around, there will be no such thing. She actually chased both grandpa and uncle Adam back into the house because they didn't have on any footwear. I'm talking about a 20 month old who looks down at your feet, points and begins to chant, "shoes..shoes...shoes....etc.." until you return to the house and properly prepare your feet for the outside world.
It was quite humorous to watch and luckily I was smart enough to know when to go shoeless and when to have them strapped on, thereby avoiding the scolding.
