A Day of Thanks

I don't think anyone would be shocked if I told them that I had quite a bit to be thankful for this year. With such an amazing wife, how could I not be thankful? We are now within 3 weeks of the scheduled arrival of our little holiday gift. Unfortunately, we don't have a tracking number for this package, but even if she doesn't make it before the end of Chanukah (Dec. 19th) or even by Christmas Day, this is going to be the best holiday season ever for the Florida branch of the Sznitken family!

Annie seems to remember us paying extra for a rush delivery, ensuring her arrival before the 25th. It would be a little disappointing if she didn't make it on time, especially since we have just short of a dozen holiday outfits to dress her up in!

I'm also pretty excited that my folks have flown down to spend the holiday with us; and equally excited that they left Adam in NY! (You guys could have brought Kim with you though.) For the rest of the family in Connecticut, Texas, New Hampshire, New York, Minnesota and other long distances away, we are thinking of you and looking forward to the opportunity to see you again and to introduce you to the newest member of the clan.

So in the spirit of the day, I want to thank all of our family and friends for their everlasting support, friendship and assistance. I'm sure that I sometimes fail to express how important you all are, but please know that I recognize how charmed a life I get to lead.

Ok, time to get off of the computer and to get back to getting the house ready for our guests. That's right...my VERY pregnant wife is hosting Thanksgiving 2009 at our home. (If Baby Sznitken has half the energy of her mother, its going to be quite the year)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones.

Blast of a Weekend

Two weekends ago, Annie got together with a number of her friends for a baby shower thrown by Tori, her wonderful sister. I want to personally thank Tori and the girls who assisted her. I heard nothing but wonderful comments regarding how nice the shower was and how much fun everyone had.

The shower was held at Wild East Asian Bistro on Las Olas, and I can confirm from the leftovers that the food was awesome! Speaking of awesome, the cake was straight out of one of those TLC channel cake shows.

Here are a couple more photos from the gala event.

Additionally, we need to thank Tom for so graciously letting Annie and her out of town friends evict him from his house for the weekend. Tom and his boys crashed at our house with me, while the girls set up shop at his house. (His house is bigger, has a boat and a pool). While I wasn't officially staying at the house, the girls graciously allowed me to hang out with them for a good portion of the weekend and it really was a fun time. It was nice seeing some family and some of Annie's friends that I hadn't seen in what seems like years and years. Here are some of them now:

Annie and I are feverishly working on official thank you cards, but in the meantime, I want to thank everyone for all of the rockin' gifts. Our little girl is well on her way to having the coolest nursery in the neighborhood and with all of her new cute outfits, she's going to be the bell of the ball anywhere she goes.

Good News In The Neighborhood

I'm going to break from the normal topics and talk about someone besides us today. We just received exciting new from our good friends Joe and Steph. Steph's pregnancy began a few months before ours did and they were all set to have twin girls in August.

It seems that the girls must have figured out how lucky they were to have such amazing parents, because they decided to show up a few weeks early. Unfortunately, their room wasn't ready and neither were they, so they've been hanging out at our local hospital.

Well, we just heard that one of the girls is set to be released from the hospital and is heading home today. We couldn't be happier for them! Now we just need her sister to follow in her footsteps...

Welcome to the neighborhood Julie!!!
