After The Tenth..... When The Fun Really Begins

Throughout history, man has moved through different ages. We had the Ice Age, the Stone Age, the Bronze Age...and now we are in the Why Age. What's the Why Age you ask? Let me give you a typical example.

Macy: Where's Mommy?
Daddy: She's at the grocery store.
Macy: Why?
Daddy: Because we needed more food.
Macy: Oh...why?
Daddy: Because you and your sister ate it all up.
Macy: Oh....why?
Daddy: Because you were hungry.
Macy: Why?
Daddy: Wanna go outside and play with your kitchen?

I'm so glad that Macy is inquisitive and seems to want to learn about things and I know that this question is part of her cognitive development, but there is a chance that the Why Age might slip into the less popular Daddy version, the Because I Said So Age.

In accordance with American tradition, the arrival of Laney's 1st birthday was recognized with a festive gathering of individuals. Annie and I both found the day to be so much fun and a bit of a learning experience. Clearly the celebration of Laney's birthday was a happy and exciting time for us. Right before the party started, I had a few thoughts on how far we had come from those first few months. You can clearly see in the photos below that Laney's turned into this expressive, happy and amazing one year old, who was enjoying her day...and that cupcake.

The first few moments of the party were also a bit tough for me, as I came to the realization that illiteracy was clearing running rampant in the South Florida area of this country. Laney's birthday invitation clearly stated that presents weren't necessary and yet there was a table filled with all sorts of fun games, adorable outfits and lots of beach gear. Next holiday season everyone is getting a Reading Is Fundamental Reading Planet membership.

The month of March flew by quickly, but before it did, we got some cool photos of the girls.The girls were joined at the beach by their good friend Declan. You'll also see that Macy now gets her toenails painted. Her color often matches mommies chosen color.

During the month we also made a quick run up to Orlando for a fun weekend with one of our North Carolina buddies...Liam. We didn't do the parks, but instead spent the day at Downtown Disney, which included the Lego store. You'll also see that Laney hasn't gotten any better at feeding herself.
